To begin the discussion on prayer lets start with the definition of prayer.

Holman Illustrated Bible states: Prayer is "dialogue between God and People, especially His covenant Partners"

"The prophets writings noted that genuine prayer calls for accompanying moral and social accountability  Hos. 7:14, Amos 4:4-5"  Isaiah's call reflected the intense cleasing and commitment in prayer.  Is. 6."

Jesus himself, was and is our example and He prayed often and continually.  He rose early in the morning hours to go and pray to His Father and He only did what He saw the Father doing.
